Author: Jessica CobbAmelia Cobb was described by her brother, Gabe, as someone who knew her talents and used them to help people. At Amelia’s memorial service, Gabe challenged listeners to utilize their own strengths and skills for the service of others as well. The July 4th fundraising event was a vivid display of this call to action. Cobb family members and friends alike employed their own unique gifts to raise money for the annual memorial scholarship. Woodworking, furniture flipping, baking, writing, and firearm safety are just a few examples of the diverse ways people used their talents to raise funds. Gabe also engaged in this fundraising event by using his expertise to offer flight excursions in a Piper Cherokee. On Saturday, July 16th, 2022, participants were able to enjoy memorable trips above Huntington, WV. The day began with Gabe providing a brief overview of aviation. Aerodynamics and aircraft systems were two of the topics briefly described. One person in each flight group was able to assist Gabe in the cockpit. Once airborne, this participant got to manipulate the controls under supervision. The other passengers were able to view the cockpit and listen to air traffic communication. The final experience came when Gabe simulated zero gravity. With this maneuver, participants and all belongings suddenly floated in the aircraft. Screams of excitement and surprise at the sensation swarmed the cabin. The maneuver was so well received that everyone requested to enjoy the experience again. The day proved to be a success for everyone. Participants relished in a personalized flight experience, and the foundation received generous donations for the scholarship fund.

AuthorDebbie Tucker What a great day we had at the Buffalo July 4th Celebration! The support and love for Amelia, this foundation, and our family is overwhelming. There was a great turn out from the community and so many people stopped by our tent to chat, donate, and get some of the best lemonade in Buffalo. Madyson Rogers, this year's scholarship recipient, paid us a special visit. Not only is she benefiting from this scholarship, she and her family are also great supporters of the foundation. We wish Madyson all the best in her future endeavors. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who generously donated items to help raise funds with this event. It was a huge success and would not have been possible without your support. 100% of proceeds went directly to the scholarship account. We promised a video of the gift basket winners and here it is... We had a steady stream of folks all day, even in the heat! The kids got to spin the wheel for prizes and freeze pops, folks browsed the merchandise table, drank some great lemonade, and entered in the basket giveaways. Rick enlisted the help of 2 young men, Thor & RJ, to spread the word about our booth and get folks to come visit us. They did a great job! I want to feature the Aerial Tour of Huntington with Gabe. You don't want to miss this unique opportunity. The date is July 16, reserve your time slot(s) today and let Gabe show you the sites of Huntington from the air. Click the link below for more info and grab your spot while you can! Thanks to all of you, our supporters, who help keep Amelia's testimony alive through your generous donations and words of encouragement. Amelia would be blown away by the impact she is still having on people. What a special young lady with a heart for her God. I know she would encourage everyone to serve and love our Savior Jesus Christ. She is in His presence now, let's all join her when our day comes. I will leave you with a photo from her bible where she highlighted her favorite life verse. This verse is also engraved on the Wood Heart Box. -LOVE We would love to hear from you, simply click on "comments" or "leave a reply" to leave us a note. |
